The meat and potatoes of the MichaelPro Click Through Torque Wrench is that it is a torque wrench. This inherent rigidity makes it perfect for use in hand tools but not ideal for more rigorous applications like impact wrenches. ![]() During the refining process, workers heat treat the material to strengthen it. As the name suggests, it is a type of steel made from chromium and vanadium. The included sockets are all made from Chrome Vanadium, an industry standard for tools that are subjected to heavy use. However, it’s really not a big deal if you have an existing 1⁄2 inch socket set as they are millimeter accurate. A quick measurement with a set of calipers shows it’s actually 17.4 millimeters – problematic for my GTI, which needs a 17mm socket. In T-mode (with the driver on top) it can be used as a torque wrench, while in X-mode (with the driver in the middle) it’s best used for loosening and tightening lug nuts all the way.īelow I’ve outlined how it works, along with some of my favorite and least favorite features. Its dual functionality is enabled by a bit driver that slides up and down the shaft of the torque wrench – the driver locks in at the top and middle. Luckily, MichaelPro makes a sturdy replacement tire iron that doubles as a torque wrench. Plus, if you’re committed enough to change an apartment yourself - rather than throw in the towel and call AAA - it’s not like you have a complete snap-on toolkit at your fingertips the equipment in your trunk is designed for economical weight and functionality. ![]() Being stranded on the side of the road isn’t just uncomfortable.
